Copy any web page as clean Markdown for ChatGPT, notes and docs

Copying straight from a web page drags its clutter along: share buttons, captions, stray links, broken formatting. Pasting that into ChatGPT, Notion or Obsidian means cleaning it by hand. imread copies just the article.
Open the example, then copy it as Markdown →
Text or Markdown
- Markdown keeps the structure: headings, lists, tables, links and code blocks. It suits notes apps, documentation and prompts where structure matters.
- Text is clean paragraphs, ready for a chat, an email or a document. Tables come out as tab-separated rows, so they paste into a spreadsheet as columns.
How
Paste the link on imread, press Copy, and pick Text or Markdown. That is the whole job.
Pages that usually fight back
imread reads WeChat Official Account articles, Chinese and Japanese pages in older encodings (GBK, Shift_JIS) that other tools turn into garbled characters, and SEC EDGAR filings with their tables intact.
From a script or an agent
The same Markdown is one request away, no key needed:
curl "https://imread.org/api/extract?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpaulgraham.com%2Fgreatwork.html&format=markdown"AI agents can call it as a tool through imread's MCP server; the API docs cover long pages and errors.
